When you think of the F-150, you’re already thinking high-strength, military-grade aluminium-alloy, and all around Ford Tough. All this in a light weight package makes F-150 drivers capable of getting more done.
The 2018 F-150 comes with four different engines which are listed below:
All-new standard 3.3L V6 that generates 282-horsepower and 253 lb-ft of torque
All-new second-generation 2.7L EcoBoost with advanced dual port and direct injection
Improved 5.0L V8 with significant upgrades for increased power and torque
All-new, first-ever offered 3.0L Power Stroke diesel engine
The 3.3L V6 is a game changer, and is bigger and better than ever when it comes to delivery. Think more – more power, more torque, and better EPA- estimated gas mileage than ever before. Ultimately the F-150 will get more done with its two-cylinders.
The 2018 F-150 was designed with quality materials making it lighter and faster on its feet. The manufacturer was able to shed 700 pounds of weight so drivers can haul and tow more. The 3.3L V6 is projected to offer a 5 percent power-to-weight ratio improvement than the previous model.
Also particularly of note, the 5.0L V8 will be paired with a Ford-build 10-speed automatic transmission for the first time ever, making the EPA estimate a major improvement. The V8 also boasts of a dual port and direct-injection technology which means you’ll get 10 more horsepower and 13 ft-lb of torque.
We can’t wait to hear more about the first diesel engine will be offered for the F-150, and we’ll hear more about that as it gets closer to production. Stay tuned here for more updates as they come through the pipeline.
